Jon & Kate Plus 8 are coming next week!

I just got off of the phone from talking with The Gosselin's who are the stars of the hit reality show called, "Jon & Kate Plus 8." They are a great couple with an extremely interesting story. They have a passion for God and I believe they will be a huge encouragement to everyone that attends Sept. 9th. They will be joining us for our fall kick-off and the opening of our newly designed children's wing. Make sure that you spread the word and invite someone (to the table) for our special day next Sunday. We will be updating our website and sending out e-mails in the coming days. If you'd like to check out more about this couple you can google them and see their story on Discovery Health which has video or their personal website.

Have You Seen This Video?

Bless her heart, I'm glad every dumb thing that I say is not uploaded for millions of people to laugh at. Remember, we are not laughing at her, but with her. Enjoy! This is the stuff that video announcements are made of and you may just see it again this weekend!

Life Isn't Static

There is one thing about life, it's not static. There is constant change, seasons come and go and so do friends. Today I dropped my son (Caleb) off for his first day of Kindergarten and Mikayla for 2nd grade. It's hard to believe that my little babies are growing up. It is such a blessing to be able to watch them grow but I still feel a tinge of sadness as they do. That's life I guess. Things change. Friends move on. Kids grow up. Loved ones pass away. I don't know that all of these types of things should be sad as much as they should be a reminder. A reminder that life is not static and the only thing that doesn't change in life is God's love. So through all the changes that you may be experiencing in your life (good and bad), enjoy the day because life goes and doesn't stop. Breathe deep of God's love because at the end of it all, that's all we have. Life may not be static, but it is eternal, live wisely and enjoy the day. It's all that we have.

Every few months I meet with a group of Pastors from the Pittsburgh & Philly area. They are a great bunch of guys that I am privileged to enjoy life together with. We always have a blast and life shaping experiences all in about 48 hours. I am fortunate to have great friends that really care about me. I am just thinking of the many friends that I have, some I am closer to than others, but each one brings a huge blessing to my life. Life is so short and we need to be wise about the kind of friends that we allow to speak into our lives and influence our daily actions. We need to allow people into our lives that will encourage us toward the greatness that God has reserved for us. Do you have friends like that? If so, thank God for them and make sure you show them some appreciation. If not, pray and ask God for some friends that will love you and take care of you. Make sure you begin to carve out time for those relationships because God is already sending them your way. Enjoy your friends this week!

My name is John Daker

If you were in church this morning than you witnessed why it is important to find a good small group of friends that will be honest with you. Funny Stuff!

Missed Opportunities

I recently went into the movie store that is closing in our community and had some thoughts about it. The store has been open the last few years but they never did a very good job with customer service. The people that they had working were not trained properly and the business itself was second rate. Fast forward a few years and now new competition (Block Buster) moves into the area. When this happened they instantly lost probably a third of their customers. They were no longer the only shop in town. All of the sudden they decide to begin doing what they should have been doing in the first place. Instantaneously, their workers actually said hello and were helpful. They changed their pricing structure. They were making all of the right changes. All of their changes though were to little, to late. This is an important lesson to each person, business, small business and church. If you settle for average, eventually there will be someone else who doesn't and they'll take your business, job, or customer everytime. As believers, our motivation should go beyond mere excellence. Colossians 3:17 says, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." We should go the extra mile not just to be great, but because God is great. With that said, what opportunities do you need to stop missing today?

10 Years Ago Today

10 years ago today I married my beautiful wife! It's hard to believe that I can look back on a decade and remember pretty much all of it. As I look over the last 10 years I think of all of the incredible blessings that God has given to me. My beautiful wife, my awesome children and a really great church! What has been a really big blessing or a funny moment over the last 10 years of your life? While your thinking about it, copy this link to your browser ( and watch the video called, "Chinese Food Prank." Have a great day and don't forget to thank God for his goodness to you!

Do you remember names? (sermon series title prize still up for grabs)

Do you have problems remembering names? Sometimes I'm really good at it and other times I feel like dementia is setting in. How about you? Anyway, yesterday we started a series that we're adapting from Life called, "A.K.A. God." It was a good day and hopefully encouraging to everyone that attended. We were talking about the fact that we can know who God is and what he is like based on who Jesus is and the meaning of His names. In the Old Testament there are lots of names that God is called and it gives you a snapshot of who he is. The one that we talked about this week was...Jehova Rohi...which means, 'the Lord is my Shepherd.' We read Psalm 23 together and talked about how Jehova Rohi (God) provides for us, gives us his peace and he blesses us with his very presence. So out of all the names that you'll remember or forget this week, don't forget the name of the Lord God himself! Remember that he is with you, he will lead you today and he will de-stress your life with his peace. Go ahead, take a minute and call on His name for whatever you need today! By the way, our new series will be chosen by end of this week, so keep the ideas coming!

Be Nice To Your Boss Next Week!

I don't know if you heard about this story from this week...
---The owner of a car dealership has been accused of killing two employees because they kept asking for pay raises. Rolandas Milinavicius has been charged with two counts of murder in the shooting deaths of Inga Contreras, 25, and Martynas Simokaitis, 28. All three are from the eastern European nation of Lithuania but had been living in Atlanta, authorities said. Milinavicius, who was having financial problems, told police he shot the two Thursday after they kept asking for more pay, said police in East Point, which is just outside Atlanta. "He told us that he was under a lot of stress," East Point police Capt. Russell Popham said. "Unfortunately, he decided to take his anger out with violence."---

Your boss may be under a lot of stress so my advice for next week would be, "Be supportive and be careful next time you ask for that raise!" Crazy world! Have a great weekend and there are still no winners for the fall series giveaway (see previous posts) so keep'em coming and offer as many as ideas as you'd like.
