Yesterday I talked about the fact that when we live our lives according to God's Word (the Bible), it turns our world upside down and we live differently. If we want to have lives of meaning and become great, we must become humble servants that love!
Week 2- Memory Verse- “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” Mark 10:43 (NIV)
1. What's Yours is Mine, I'll Take It.
Luke 10:30 -33 (NIV): “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him... Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers? The expert in the law replied, 'The one who had mercy on him.' Jesus told him, 'Go and do likewise.'”
2. What's Mine is Mine, I'll Keep It.
Matthew 7:12 (NIV): “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”
3. What's Mine is God's, I'll share It.
Mark 10:42-45 (NIV), “Jesus called them together and said, "...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
John 13:3-5 (NIV) “Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”
How Can I Live with a Servant's Heart? (see also Phiippians 2:5-8)
1. Be available
2. Exercise boundaries
3. Serve intentionally
Matthew 25:40 (NIV): “The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'”
