THE POWER OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Are you an encourager? My life's mission is to help encourage people to greatness in God. Giving courage to others is such an incredible privilege. God can use each of us in releasing the power of encouragement to others. The devotional below is courtesy of Jentezen Franklin ministries. To read more, click here.

Pleasant words are...health to the bones. Pr 16:24 NKJV

Everybody needs encouragement. None of us achieves anything without help. The great achievers in history became all that they were because of the people in their lives. We’ve seen The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings. But did you know that their authors, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, were professors at Oxford University and maintained a close friendship? Every week they’d meet to eat, talk about their fiction-writing endeavors and read passages of their yet unpublished works. It was Tolkien who encouraged Lewis, an avowed atheist, to explore Christianity, ultimately leading to his conversion. And it was Lewis who encouraged Tolkien to continue writing fiction and to seek publication. Were it not for their friendship and mutual encouragement, the world wouldn’t have received the finest writing in apologetics of the twentieth century, nor one of the finest fantasy works ever written.

Everyone young and old, successful and less-than-successful, famous and unknown who receives encouragement is changed by it. Mark Twain said, "One compliment can keep me going for a whole month." A word of encouragement from a teacher can change a child’s life. A word of encouragement from a spouse can strengthen or even save a marriage. A word of encouragement from a leader can inspire a person to reach his or her potential. Zig Ziglar says, "You never know when a moment and a few sincere words can have an impact on a life." The Bible says, "Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones" (Pr 16:24 NKJV).

Life's Healing Choices, Part 6- Repairing Relationships

Week 6: REPAIRING RELATIONSHIPS- THE RELATIONSHIP CHOICE:
I evaluate all my relationships, offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me, and make amends for harm I’ve done to others, except when to do so would harm them or others.

“Happy are those who are merciful to others... Happy are those who work for peace.” Matthew 5:7,9 (TEV)

1. I can FORGIVE others because God has FORGIVEN me.
“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” C.S. Lewis
“Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” Colossians 3:13 (LB); Matt. 6:12; Matt. 6:14-15; Luke 6:37; James 2:13
“But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Mark 11:25 (NLT)

Key thought- I will need forgiveness in the future

2. BITTERNESS doesn’t work.

The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.” Proverbs 11:24 (Msg)

Here are the 4 things that make up your life: 1. TIME 2. TALENT 3. TREASURE 4. TONGUE (Words)

Key Question- The average life span is 25,550 days. What will you do with your days?

Lessons from a Hoarder (Luke 12:13-21)
13Someone out of the crowd said, "Teacher, order my brother to give me a fair share of the family inheritance." 14He replied, "Mister, what makes you think it's any of my business to be a judge or mediator for you?" 15Speaking to the people, he went on, "Take care! Protect yourself against the least bit of greed. Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot."
#1- Hoarders always need MORE.
