What Do You Need This Christmas?

"…"For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder, and He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6)

Lists seem to be synonymous with Christmas these days. In fact, I've been asking my kids about their Christmas wish lists for the last few months in preparation for the big day. They want so many different gifts that it's hard to keep up. The onslaught of advertising is a big reason that the lists continue to grow & grow & grow. T.V., Internet, Billboards & Radio reminding us all about the latest & greatest. Most of us are in full shopping mode attempting to get everything that we 'need' for this special holiday. For the record, I have no problem buying gifts & sharing them with loved ones. In fact, I would like for you to think about buying me one today... teasing! Seriously though, consider your list today and ask yourself, "what do I need this Christmas?" I'm not referring to underwear, socks or the vast amount of life changing trinkets for $19.99 or less. I'm talking about your deepest needs, things that you can't go another day without.

So many times our wish lists are crowded with things that ultimately never meet our deepest needs. The truth about every single one of us this Christmas is that we have real needs. Needs that can't be met by spending more money or scheduling more parties. Maybe you're in the midst of a job transition & you need some wise counsel. Maybe you're facing intense loneliness due to the loss of a loved one. It could be that you're facing difficulties & stress that seem absolutely insurmountable?

Whatever circumstance you may be facing today, know that you don't need to face it alone. Jesus is God's perfect gift for you & I today! He is Immanuel, God with us! This Christmas you can receive wonderful counsel, mighty strength & supernatural peace from your heavenly Father. Take your list to God today & receive every answer that you need through the gift of God's son, Jesus! Then you will truly have a Merry Christmas!
